The building has been orientated to take full advantage of the stunning views surrounding the site.
The axis of the main building has therefore been twisted off the line of the building platform to maximised the views of Mt Earnslaw to the North, Pigeon and Pig Islands to the South, Mt Larkins to the East and Mt Bonpland and Lake Wakatipu to the West.
The Site is accessed from the south east via a timber bridge over a small stream (formed from existing ground water) which forms a symbolic gateway to the retreat.
A winding road leading to the house gives glimpses of the dramatic views surrounding the site and the road terminates at an external parking area and garage.
